Structural Repairs
Hamilton Steel Buildings team installing a structural steel goalpost frame beneath an existing mezzanine floor
We were contracted by our longstanding client, Simply Food Solutions, to correct structural issues they were having at their current premises.
Damage to the floors, as well as the interior and exterior walls, was compromising the structural integrity of their commercial building. We were required to excavate and remove all damaged areas, before replacing them with new fit-for-purpose concrete repairs. We also installed a new mezzanine steel system, including a full replacement of the client’s existing mezzanine floor. Originally, this floor was installed and held up using a concrete block wall for strength, however, this was no longer fit-for-purpose. For that reason, we put a plan in place to replace the wall with a new hot-rolled steel frame more suited to the requirements of their building.
To do this, we first removed an existing concrete wall within the building and installed temporary acro props to safely carry the weight of the structure. We then bolted the new steel columns and rafters to the floor before installing a new timber framework between the steels, dressing it with plywood, and finishing it with a checker plate and paint. We once again succeeded in exceeding our client’s expectations, installing this purpose-built system and helping them restore the structural integrity of their building.
