YEOVIL INDUSTRIAL UNIT REFURBISHMENT

Giving an old industrial unit an extensive facelift

Started and completed in 2022, this large development project involved the demolition and repurposing of an industrial site which had previously been used by the Ministry of Defence.

One of the most challenging aspects of this project was the age and condition of the existing hot-rolled steel buildings on the premises. During the initial survey, we uncovered a number of old steel structures which had been dumped. The cladding in the existing buildings was from the 1970s and was not fit for purpose, and the roofing contained asbestos which needed to be professionally removed.

Firstly, we removed 10,000m2 of Asbestos roofing – this was disposed of safely and correctly using specific waste companies and specialist skips. All external buildings were also demolished and disposed of responsibly.

We installed new cold-rolled sheeting across the entire building and applied Kingspan insulated panels and cladding. After clearing the surrounding area, we built a new concrete yard complete with Gabion baskets to ensure good drainage and protect the slopes surrounding the premises from erosion.

We replaced the dated wooden fire doors with six new modern roller shutter doors. A new external security gate and mesh fencing was fitted, and new gutters and downpipes were installed.

Internally, the building underwent a complete modernisation makeover with new LED lighting fitted to illuminate a sleek office block with brand-new kitchen and toilet facilities.
